The large number of visitors that houses Machu Picchu, has to go hand in hand with the overall development and especially taking into account the sustainability of the citadel.

Elias Carreno, an official of the Directorate of Culture and Decentralized Chief Master Plan to protect Machu Picchu project, said the project to date and is 70% complete and should be completed in March for approval in April.

Carreno said the Master Plan will help to harmonize the arrival of tourists to the conservation and on this basis may also work on alternate routes, tighter controls and consider the use of technologies that allow the greatest care of the estate.
