It will soon be possible to make the tour to Machu Picchu from Argentina with solar train project
Making the tour to Machu Picchu is one of the trips we all want to undertake at least once in a lifetime. It would now be possible from Argentina on a single train trip. The project since February 2018 called «Tren de la Quebrada» will connect Argentina with Machu Picchu, powered by solar energy.
This project seeks to boost tourism and the use of renewable energy. This would be the first train of this type in Latin America and the second in the world.
This construction has begun in the province of Jujuy, linking the towns along 20 kilometers, linking the town of Volcán with Pumamarca and Maimará, on its way.
For the second stage started in August, the route that joins Humahuaca and La Quiaca. As part of the project, one of its objectives in the future is to connect via rail to the city of Uyuni and Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, to end the route that connects Cusco with Machu Picchu.
At a speed of 30 km / h, the first car with which the so-called «Train of the Gorge» will have a capacity of 240 passengers. The train will make three round trips daily, carrying about 700 passengers per day. It will be a tour of the most beautiful landscapes of the puna. In addition, each station will have a thematic axis that will be related to the gastronomy, carnival and culture of the station you visit.
