Machu Picchu Intipunku
Intipunku is another archaeological site located within the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, which is located in the highest part of the hill " Cerro Arequipa" on the left bank of the river Vilcanota .
Intipunku meaning " Puerta del Sol " , this area is located just 1 km south of Machu Picchu, inside part of the highway that connects the Inca citadel.
It is called Sun Gate because during times of the year it seems that the sun rises in the lytic gate was probably ceremonial function conditioned on a terrace.
Its structure is rectangular in shape , can be seen on a platform a staircase that goes to the east, was possibly used as an observatory of military and religious .
In Intipunku are some simple, sober and simple , Inca buildings of great historical value .
All these archaeological sites strategically located in places make us understand the great organization that took the Incas in Machu Picchu.
