The Heights of Machu Picchu collection of poems was published by Neruda in 1946, three years after visiting the Inca sanctuary.

Chilean writer Pablo Neruda in Machu Picchu

Through a video, which will be broadcast from the National Library of Chile, the Chilean poet Raul Zurita Pedro Lastra and participate in the international round table Alturas de Machu Picchu by Pablo Neruda to be held at the Centro Cultural Inca Garcilaso de la Chancellery the Monday August 8 at 18:30.

Along the Peruvian writers Marcos Martos and Ricardo Gonzalez Vigil, Chilean intellectuals discussed the renowned collection of poems by Neruda, as part of the centenary of the discovery of Machu Picchu. Admission to the roundtable is free.

The activity is conducted through the collaboration of the Embassy of Peru in Chile, the Directorate of Libraries, Archives and Museums of Chile, the National Council for Culture and the Arts and the National Library of Chile.

In this book, poetry is seen as a means of recovering the testimony of the Incan culture and as a way to understand the way in which men confronted nature.
