The sacred plaza of Machu Picchu was designated as political and social center in around it you can see important structures, such is the case of the Main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Moon and the Priest's House.

To identify what type of celebrations were held in the square several studies and excavations were conducted, it was after this that understood that this sacred place used frequently, as in there was where they performed their rituals to their gods.

Besides this main square were able to identify the existence of another, in the second as the first was used to house all the tributaries to these ceremonies.

It is noteworthy that the Sacred Plaza was definitely the astronomical observatory of the city of Machu Picchu.
