The Intipunku

The Intipunku is the gateway to the Inca citadel is located within the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, is a Quechua word Intipunku: Inti = Sun = Punku door, which means "Gate of the Sun". It is known by this name because at certain times each year the sun rises just this point.

This archaeological site is located one kilometer from the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, Intipunku area consists of some simple Inca constructions but not least historical value, since it allows to understand the level of organization that had the Incas.

From this point a great show landscape whose main attraction that catches the attention in the distance is the Citadel of Machu Picchu by the imposing huaynapicchu observed.
