Festival of the Virgin Asunta was declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation

Undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements for our region, our feast of the Virgin assumed held every August 15 was declared as Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

On 10 March this year the Decentralized Management Cusco request the declaration of the festival in question and Cultural Heritage, and after many months of waiting yesterday August 5 recognition, which went through a vice-ministerial resolution was adopted.

The festival involves the entire community of Coya, which is considered one of the districts of the Province of Calca (Cusco). During the ceremonies are paraded three images of the Holy Effigy, accompanied by more than 27 troupes of different folk dances, which are organized by stewards and carguyocs.

According to information obtained from files archbishop in 1753 they came to our country three images of Our Lady of Assumption of Spain, the same as they were delivered in Calca, Coya, Pisac.
